Susan R. Rasch (November 20, 1966 – December 11, 2017) was a Cleveland singer, songwriter, and guitarist.
Susan’s first band “Rasch” released albums in the mid ‘90’s; "Don’t Ask, and Mercury and Tension" where Susan was the lead vocalist/guitarist. Band members included; guitarist Donny Podor, Bob Ensor on bass, and drummer Stefanie Eulinberg, currently a band member with Kid Rock.
Susan’s second go-around was “SuperKreme”. Along with Susan providing shared lead vocals and guitar, the power pop group consisted of co-lead vocalist/guitarist Matt Sobol, formerly of the Waynes, Bassist Paul Lewis, and drummer Jeff Harmon, both of the Jehova Waitresses. In Dec of 1998, SuperKreme was signed to a label (Universal Records/Acme Entertainment) and released their self-titled album “SuperKreme” in 1999, produced by the legendary Mitch Easter (R.E.M., Pavement). Cleveland’s Scene Magazine once described SuperKreme, and the group’s co-lead singers (Matt and Susan) as; “Imagine Matthew Sweet palling around with a refined Chrissie Hynde.”
Following Susan’s music career she made the courageous decision to help protect our nation by joining the United States Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) as a Lead Transportation Security Officer at Cleveland International Airport. As you can image, this new career came with daily challenges and stressors but Susan used her personal music therapy and humor to battle these tough days. She brought smiles while working the security lines to not only co-workers but also the passengers that had the pleasure of meeting her.
She continued her passion for music and laughter at home where she would perform for friends, family and her beloved wife.
At age 51, Susan unexpectedly passed away from a brain aneurysm in December 2017. Susan will be deeply missed as she touched so many and will be remembered not only as a talented musician/singer/songwriter, but a kind, loving, and beautiful soul. She lit up a room with her smile and illuminated the world with her heart.
